Will Burns (SL username: Aeonix Aeon)
Will Burns, VR / AR expert and AMG store owner.

Back in 2018, I had the pleasure and honour to interview Will Burns (SL username: Aeonix Aeon, SL screen name: Will Burns), a published academic and former Vice Chair of the IEEE’s Virtual World Standards Group who also runs the Andromeda Media Group store in Second Life.

Judging from his published work that I’ve read, and from the discussions I’ve had with him, he’s one of the best tech analysts and experts when it comes to Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Worlds, bar none. I’ve always admired him for his down-to-earth approach which is based on facts, reason, and actual scientific and technical knowledge and experience rather than “common wisdom” and buzzword-riddled hype. Unfortunately, the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) pandemic has taken a toll on just about everyone, wiping out jobs, slashing people’s income, and pushing health systems to their limits and beyond. Will is no exception to this sad rule.

I’m not going to beat about the bush here: he needs our help this time – like other distinguished members of SL’s user base did, at one point or another, and we all showed our solidarity. So, like I did in 2017, when I was one of the first to call upon my remaining readers to help Max Graf, and like I did in 2012, when I joined in the effort to aid Sway Dench, I’m sharing Will’s GoFundMe campaign with you. The situation is that, after his mother’s passing on August 6th, he needs help to cover several funeral and administrative costs for which her life insurance isn’t enough – the campaign’s description explains them to a significant degree.

Cindy Stoll, Will Burns’ late mother

If you can help him out by contributing some money and / or by sharing this campaign, it will be greatly appreciated.

ForMax - 3 October through 10 October

ForMax – 3 October through 10 October; over L$1,000,000 raised to assist Max and Lyyric

Tuesday was the final day of the #ForMax event, which was organised in an amazingly short time by Charlotte Bartlett, Sophia Harlow, and Blazin Aubret to raise as much money as possible to help Maxwell Graf, one of the most highly-respected SL content creator, and his RL wife, Lyyric Fei. Max and Lyyric found themselves suddenly in an appalling, heart-breaking situation that rendered them homeless through the callous and selfish behaviour of other parties. Award-winning SL architect Apple Fall and the organisers of the Shiny Shabby event also offered generous assistance; Apple Fall donated his sim, and Shiny Shabby offered the booths for the event.

ForMax – 3 October through 10 October

The “Going To The Max” event to benefit renowned SL content creator Max Graf and his wife, who goes by the name Lyyric Fei in SL, is well under way and will conclude on the 10th of this months. The event, which was started by Charlotte Bartlett (owner of Scarlet Creative) and is co-organised by Sophia Harlow, Blazin Aubret, and Callie Cline, takes place on the Apple Fall sim, kindly donated by award-winning SL architect Apple Fall, with booths courteously donated by the organisers of the Shiny Shabby event. A publicly visible Facebook page has also been set up to spread information about the event.

Hello everyone, and sorry for the delay, but you know how RL is. Only a few more hours remain until the #ForMax event in support of Maxwell Graf and his wife Lyyric Fei opens its doors. You can see numerous teasers at the event’s Facebook page, and there have been a few changes: The sim is sponsored by famed and extremely talented SL architect Apple Fall, and it’s located here (rated: Moderate). Again, the event will take place from 3 October to 10 October, and will not only feature shopping, but live events, raffles, and more as well.

In the meantime, I’d like to give you a little teaser myself, with some products I was given that will be sold at the event: A Halloween-themed costume from 1313 Mockingbird Lane, consisting of a specially-coloured version of their Malifae top and skirt set, wings, and horns, as well as a specially modified and coloured version of their Betty Boop slide mules; and Dahlia‘s Bali septum ring set.

Many thanks to both Tequilla and June Fallon, owners of 1313 Mockingbird and Dahlia respectively, for sending me these items to blog. Kudos and thanks to everyone involved, from the organisers and sponsors to the participating creators, and, of course, everyone who will attend the event! I hope to see you all soon at the event!

The “Going To The Max” initiative to support Maxwell Graf through the ordeal he and his wife (Lyyric Fei) are going through (which he detailed here) is gaining momentum by the hour. The organising team consists of three people now: Charlotte Bartlett, Sophia Harlow, and Blazin Aubret. More and more talented content creators are joining the cause every hour. As has already been mentioned in my previous posts on the matter, the event will take place between 3 October 2017 and 10 October 2017 on a region sponsored by Callie Cline, and the location will be determined soon. The organisers of Shiny Shabby have graciously donated the booth that will be used by merchants on the event. The event will not be only about shopping; there will also be raffles, live music and other happenings, and there is also a Facebook page for it. You can also follow the hashtag #ForMax on social media favoured by SL users. In the meantime, you can help out by shopping at Max’s stores, both in-world at his Rustica sim, and on the SL marketplace. I can personally vouch for the quality and style of his wares.
